our story
In 2018, High Desert Kitchen founder, Chef Scott Hamilton, began a journey on the Keto diet. He discovered he couldn’t find spice blends made without sugar and other unnecessary ingredients and quickly began to get tired of the lack of creativity and diversity in Keto recipes. So, he set out to make his own spice blends and Keto cook book. That journey has taken many twists and turns, with many successful recipes developed (and some that were not!). Through that journey he discovered the wonders of monk fruit, being able to add sweetness without adding carbs or affecting one’s glycemic index. He also fell in love with Redmond Real Salt, a phenomenal salt company mining locally in Utah. The flavor is unique, the color is beautiful, and the minerals that are retained in it add an additional health benefit. Scott realized he could make a seasoning blend that wasn’t too salty, letting you add salt to your liking as you are cooking, as all cooks should do. This is when he realized he wasn’t just making a low carb, healthy seasoning blend, he was making a seasoning blend that was going to enhance the flavor of food and keep the saltiness in check. These blends are designed for everyone from home cooks to professional chefs! We at High Desert Kitchen are here to inspire everyone from top to bottom to make more delicious food, try new things, and experience the world through their taste buds!

Scott Hamilton is a classically trained Chef who graduated from The International Culinary Institute at the Art Institute of Salt Lake. He has had a love for food since he was young child. Between five and six years old he had a dream about making a warm egg salad sandwich. He still makes that very sandwich, exactly how he dreamed of making it, for himself and his two boys Leo, and Max. Growing up, if Scott was not in the kitchen he was outside exploring nature or playing sports. Scott’s adventurous and competitive spirit shows in his cooking. He is always looking for new ingredients and techniques, and always strives to put out the best quality, best tasting food. With his love for adventure and travels with his family to get inspired, Scott decided to start his own project, High Desert Kitchen, to share his passion for food.
